All of us here at wasteLAnd are very excited to announce the programming for season six! This year our featured composer is KATHERINE YOUNG. "The curious timbres, expressive noises, and kinetic structures of Katie's electroacoustic music explore the dramatic physicality of sound, shifting interpersonal dynamics, and associations with the familiar and the strange." Over the course of wasteLAnd season six, we will present ten of Katie's works, including two complete programs and one world premiere of her collaboration with RAGE Thormbones to kick off the season. In addition, we will feature some of our favorite LA performers: Ashley Walters, Aperture Duo, Stephanie Aston, and the Formalist Quartet. Be sure to check out the programs below and save the dates!

This year wasteLAnd is doing more than ever with bigger season concerts and new educational programs. With residencies at Harvard and UC Santa Cruz, wasteLAnd serves as guest ensemble in the development and performance of new works. In the summer of 2019, with the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, wasteLAnd inaugurates its Summer Academy for Composition, where eight composers from around the globe will be selected to attend an intensive course culminating in a concert of premieres.

Even as wasteLAnd grows, we are committed to keeping our events accesible. We've always made it a priority to keep ticket prices low, but this year we hope to offer FREE admission - BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP! If we can fully fund this campaign, all wasteLAnd season six concerts will be FREE!
